Cultural event

A curated collection of photographs from the Squid Game Event held at the Museo de la Canción Yucateca. This album features Taekwondo performances by Professor Judith Badía from Escuelas Lara Salvador Alvarado alongside five of her students, a K-pop song and dance cover of 미인 (Beauty) by IU performed by Korean Mérida’s 신나요 group (intermediate Korean class), and a traditional Korean Ganggangsullae (강강술래) performance by the aspiring cultural dance group, Jeong (정).

The event was composed of Korean traditional games, beginning with 무궁화 꽃이 피었습니다 (Red Light, Green Light), and included various activities such as 딱지 (slap match), 줄다리기 (tug-of-war), 달고나 (sugar candy challenge), and a Korean culture trivia. One of the highlights was the gastronomy, which everyone seemed to enjoy. Ms. Park and her friends prepared delicious 수육 (boiled pork slices) and 김밥 (Korean rice rolls). There’s so much more to say, but we invite you to explore the gallery—because a picture is worth a thousand words!

This event marked the first Squid Game gathering held prior to the release of Squid Game 3, the number-one Netflix series. As part of our initiative to introduce traditional Korean games to the people of Yucatán, we aimed to share meaningful aspects of Korean culture with those eager to learn.

The event was born from the enthusiasm of Korean Mérida’s students, friends, and all lovers of Korean culture. We sincerely thank everyone who attended and look forward to hosting more cultural events in the near future.
